Beach tennis

Like paddle tennis, beach tennis is one of those new racket sports that is gaining popularity around the world.
It is very similar to its counterpart tennis, but also has similarities with paddle tennis. We will see how beach tennis skills can greatly help you become a future paddle tennis player.

Similarities between beach tennis and paddle tennis

Site size: varies in size, but is similar.
The size of the beach tennis court is 8 meters wide and 16 meters long.
The playing field is 10 meters wide and 20 meters long.
It is easy for padel players to adapt and feel the boundaries of the court.

The ball is always in the air: This is the main element of this sport.
There is no bounce off the sand and there can be none.

Positions: Served from the line like in tennis and then played at the net.
It is played in pairs, similar to beach volleyball.
It's a very fast sport, so players often just try to block the ball.

Candle: To change the rhythm during a point, players tend to perform saucers, which somewhat destabilize volleyball players. It is clear that after the rebound of the ball we do not find a treasure, as in the padel, but only a blocked volley, the trajectory of which rises high. This is more of a delicate hit with the ball, rather than a technical hit with a preparation phase. It is somewhat reminiscent of the padel roll.

Reflexes: Two things to keep in mind in beach tennis are obviously volleys and reflexes. In fact, players who are close to the net receive a tennis serve from just 8 meters away from the server. Therefore, reflexes are one of the most important skills to have in this sport. To give an example of how reflexes compare between these two sports, we can imagine a padel player performing a bayadere while his opponents are hitting the net. Therefore, reflexes will be tested in order to block the ball. In addition to reflexes, beach tennis is undoubtedly an even more explosive sport (given the length of the match), since the exchanges between the opponents are faster. Therefore, reflexes and explosiveness will be needed to win points!

Conclusions: There are many similarities between these two sports, which have a wide variety of strokes.
Padel players and tennis players will likely not have difficulty adapting to the conditions of Beach Tennis.
There is only one thing that can be a little destabilizing, which is that there is no bounce of the ball off the ground.
If you don't have the basics of playing tennis or padel at the net, it will take some time to get used to hitting without a bounce.
